MEDITATION

HELLO HELLO!

Today I want to talk to you about a topic that I love: meditation! I want to tell you guys all the benefits that meditation has brought to my life and my favorite ways to meditate. So let’s get straight to it.

When we hear the word meditation, sometimes we think about  it as something impossible to achieve. Or at least that’s what would happen to me. Like how can I just sit in a corner for hours and clear my mind of E V E R Y thought? However, I kept reading articles about how great and therapeutic this was so I decided to  give it a try anyways, and boy was I surprised!

Once you nail meditation down, it’s literally like a massage for your brain, it has become my favorite activity. As I said before, I started meditating because I was at a point in my life where I needed something to help me de-stress and improve my emotional health. This was during my second pregnancy, when my hormones were all over the place! So I researched what a pregnant woman could do to improve her mood, and articles always suggested meditation and yoga.

I started to meditate for 5 minutes each day. The first time I tried it I didn’t feel anything, nor the second or third, but after a week I started to sense the benefits. For me, meditating isn’t necessarily blanking my mind, it’s more like a moment during the day that I give myself to reflect on my actions, pray and be appreciative of my surroundings. Nonetheless, when I have been able to clear my mind completely, it’s the best feeling in the world. You feel completely present in the moment, you're invincible and nothing can phase you. You're not worried about what happened yesterday, or what will happen tomorrow, it’s a sense of complete and total freedom because you're enjoying the present.

For me this has been the biggest benefit I've received from meditating. It has taught me to be mindful when I’m doing any type of activity. For example, when I exercise I focus so much more and I do it much better because I am thinking only about how I move each part of my body. When I am working I also concentrate much more, when I am playing with my daughters I enjoy  the moment without any distractions and when I am eating, I’m aware of everything I put in my mouth, which just enhances the experience.

As I said before, meditation is pretty much what you want it to be, there’s no rule book. Or at least I see it that way. However there are some tools to help guide you and get you started.

The one I currently use is:  https://deepakchoprameditacion.es
