One thing that all my close friends know about me is that I have a cappuccino obsession! My love for this coffee beverage has no boundaries. Hot or cold? I don’t care, just give it to me! However, since I am slightly addicted, I try to always drink my cappuccinos in their healthiest versions. I really enjoy them with vegetable, oat or almond milk and always replace sugar with liquid stevia drops.
However, my latest obsession is the infamous Dalgona cappuccino! And I’m pretty sure you know what this is, unless you live under a rock. The recipe is EVERYWHERE, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, Facebook etc. It tastes and looks fantastic! Sadly, every recipe I saw online included sugar. So I took it upon myself to find the perfect ingredient to replace it, without sacrificing taste or texture. After hours in the kitchen I finally figured it out! Vanilla flavored hydrolyzed collagen.
Collagen is used all the time to make foods and beverages thicker, and creamier. In this case, it gives the dalgona coffee that foamy finish, plus it incorporates all of it’s incredible beneficial properties.
1 tablespoon and a half instant coffee
2 tablespoons hydrolyzed collagen
1 tablespoon and a half of liquid stevia
1 tablespoon and a half of hot water
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- In a deep bowl, add all the ingredients except the almond milk, and beat with a mixer until the batter turns very light brown ( it should be a shade similar to beige). When you reach this color tone, you’ll know that it’s ready. This process takes up to 5-7 minutes.
- If you want it hot, you must heat the almond milk. If you prefer it cold, serve the vegetable milk in a cup and add a few ice cubes.
- Drink up!
